Hooray! Center raises record amount in end-of-year fundraising

With help from almost 80 new donors and 45 renewing donors, the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting raised just over $53,000 in our end-of-year fundraising campaign – a record-breaking total for us!

A hearty thanks to all of you who contributed to this effort. With a generous matching grant for new donor gifts from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, we have gained new contributors and new readers and continue to build strong support for investigative, nonprofit journalism in Maine.

We are also sending a hearty thanks to everyone who has donated this past year. Our supporters come from across Maine and beyond. A donor in Dixmont wrote that he is “…so grateful” for our work. From Arundel, another reader wrote, “We appreciate all that you have done to shine some light on what is really going on in the state.” One reader Washington, DC urged us to “Keep it up!” And another from Woodstock (Maine) says, “Good luck! It’s critical work that is greatly appreciated.”

And we appreciate you!

We are hard at work on new stories about Maine government and elections. Your donations give us the time and resources we need to do our investigations – to look beneath the surface and then, as our mission directs us, to “write clearly and without fear or favor about what we discover.”

On behalf of our board and advisory board, thank you for supporting nonprofit, nonpartisan reporting for Maine that holds government and politicians accountable. We are thankful to all of you, our donors and our readers, for making this work possible.

Gratefully,

Naomi, Hildie, and John
